Bear Grass - Nolina microcarpa

The Bear Grass (Nolina microcarpa) is a large broadleaf evergreen shrub for arid landscapes and gardens. When juvenile this plant is often mistaken for a grass due to the small flowers on clusters of 6 foot tall panicles. With a small trunk forms inside the mounds of leaves establishing it as a shrub. This plant has no negatives of note. The native species is most common in production.
