Arizona Ironwood - Olneya tesota

The Arizona Ironwood (Olneya tesota) is a broadleaf evergreen tree for landscapes and gardens in arid climates. This is a great drought resistant tree for the desert Southewest with very showy, but short lived flowers. The seed pods are extremely messy when they drop. Younger growth contains thorns, but not many, and it will take some maintenance to develop a trunk. The native species is most common in production.
