Tree Peony - Paeonia suffruticosa

The Tree Peony (Paeonia suffruticosa) is a small deciduous flowering shrub ideal for perennial gardens and flower borders. This species has nice cutleaf foliage, interesting bark in winter and impressive fragrant flowers that are much more delicate than perennial peonies. This plant doesn't add much structure in shrub plantings. It is best tucked into flower gardens. There are hundreds of varieties of Tree Peonies cultivated for flower, habit and leaf differences.
