Slipper Plant - Pedilanthus macrocarpus

The Slipper Plant (Pedilanthus macrocarpus) is a small to medium sized flowering shrub for warm season landscapes and gardens. This is a "Succulent-looking" plant with a beautiful habit, blue color to the stems and branches, and red to orange slipper-flowers at the end of summer. This plant is technically not a succulent, but the leaves are often overlooked and rarely present because the membrane on the stem (vs, bark) is capable of photosynthesizing. The native species is most common in production.
