The Summer Wine® Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius 'Seward') is a medium to large sized deciduous shrub for landscapes, gardens and naturalizing. This variety has deep purple foliage in spring and summer turning orange and yellow in fall. It also has a smaller more mounding habit than others. The bark is exfoliating and gives a Birch-like appearance in winter. This plant has no negatives of note. This plant is a trademarked culitvated variety of Physocarpus opulifolius with a patent held by Proven Winners®. Some photos from the parent species have been used to aid in identification.
