Interior Bristlecone Pine - Pinus aristata

The Interior Bristlecone Pine (Pinus aristata) is a unique small coniferous tree for landscapes and gardens native to the Western United States. The unique shape and interesting needle texture make for good conversation. This is one the longest lived plants. Species over 2400 years old have been found in the United States. The sappy secretion on the needles can make it very sticky and sticks to clothes when touched. The spots are often mistaken for scale. There are more cultivars of this species in production.
