Singleleaf Pinyon Pine - Pinus monophylla

The Singleleaf Pinyon Pine (Pinus monophylla) is a spreading conifer native to the Southwestern United States. This plant is coveted for the edible pine nuts and easier to harvest than the taller double-leaf variety. It is also coveted for the wood for burning. This plant is not tidy in a landscape and best in natural settings. The native species is most common in production.
