The California Sycamore (Platanus racemosa) is a large deciduous shade tree ideal for street trees, parks, and open spaces. This tree is distinctive or its exfoliating bark on the upper trunk and branches. It creates a nice cathedral like canopy for shade, and is extremely pollution tolerant. Between bark, seeds, and diseased leaves, this plant drops debris seemingly year round. I would still plant it in low maintenance areas. The main hybrid form of this plant is Platanus X acerifolia.
