The London Plantree (Platanus X acerifolia) is a large deciduous shade tree ideal for street trees, parks, and open spaces. This tree is distinctive for its exfoliating bark on the upper trunk and branches. It creates a nice cathedral like canopy for shade, and is extremely pollution tolerant. Between bark, seeds, and diseased leaves, this plant drops debris seemingly year round. I would still plant it in low maintenance areas. This plant is a cross between Platanus orientalis (Oriental Planetree) and Platanus occidentalis (American Sycamore).
