Japanese Yew Pine - Podocarpus macrophyllus

The Japanese Yew Pine (Podocarpus macrophyllus) is a medium sized pyramidal evergreen for landscapes and gardens. This plant is most often sheared into a hedge or cone. If left alone, it will form a large pyramid like a spruce with branches to the ground. If limbed up, it will form a large tree with gorgeous peeling bark. It also produces really tasty berries. This plant has no negatives of note. There are more cultivars of this species in production.
