White Poplar - Populus alba

The White Poplar (Populus alba) is a medium sized deciduous shade tree found in gardens, landscapes, and naturalized in wetlands. The beautiful and distinctive white bark on the upper branches makes the tree unmistakable in the winter landscape. The plant is invasive and has naturalized into wetlands in many areas of the United States. European species only is in wide production, but it has hybridized on its own with native American species.
