Fremont Cottonwood - Populus fremontii

The Fremont Cottonwood (Populus fremontii) is a large shade tree native to the central and Southwestern United States. The crisp leaves make an Aspen like sound in the breeze. This plant is very fast growing and in mild areas the leaves hold late into winter. This tree drops lots of debris and probably shouldn't be planted in high traffic areas. The native species is most common in production.
