Texas Honey Mesquite - Prosopis glandulosa glandulosa

The Texas Honey Mesquite (Prosopis glandulosa glandulosa) is a medium sized fast growing tree for landscapes and gardens. This is a sought after wood for fuel and the flavoring in BBQ. This species has a brighter green (almost yellow when emerging) color to the foliage and one of the more attractice Mesquite barks. This plant is very thorny, and the drop lots of litter, but are virtually bulletproof. The native species is most common in production.
