Screwbean Mesquite - Prosopis pubescens

The Screwbean Mesquite (Prosopis pubescens) is a medium sized fast growing tree for landscapes and gardens. This is a sought after wood for fuel and the flavoring in BBQ. This species differs from other Mesquite by the screw shaped tubular bean. As a result it also has less litter. This plant is very thorny, and the drop lots of litter, but are virtually bulletproof. The native species is most common in production.
