Argentine Mesquite - Prosopsis alba

The Argentine Mesquite (Prosopsis alba) is a medium sized fast growing tree for landscapes and gardens. This is a sought after wood for fuel and the flavoring in BBQ. They are also often planted for livestock as the beans (seed pods) make good fodder. This plant is very thorny, and the drop lots of litter, but are virtually bulletproof. The native species is most common in production.
