Sand Cherry - Prunus besseyi

The Sand Cherry (Prunus besseyi) is a small to medium sized flowering shrub for landscapes and gardens native to the upper Midwest. This species can be kept pruned in a garden but prefers locations where it can naturalize. This plant has a suckering habit and can develop a large amount of small dead wood. The native species is most common in production.
