Japanese Flowering Cherry - Prunus serrulata

The Japanese Flowering Cherry (Prunus serrulata) is a medium sized flowering tree for landscapes and gardens. This plant has great fall color, and the flower is alright but the hybrids of this plant are far more popular. Flowering cherries are prone to winter kill from late freezes. Winter water is the best prevention. There are more cultivars of this species in production.
