Douglas Fir - Pseudotsuga menziesii

The Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) is a large coniferous evergreen for landscapes and gardens. It is most commonly known for it's use as a Christmas Tree. This plant is a giant in the forest but is often used in landscapes and can stay below fifty feet. It has a softer needle than Spruce and responds well to pruning and shearing. The species can be sensitive extreme cold and dry winters. Winter watering will help prevent freeze damage. There are more cultivars of this species in production.
