Hoptree - Ptelea trifoliata

The Hoptree (Ptelea trifoliata) is a large deciduous shrub or small tree native to the Eastern United States. This plant is usually found in woodlands and wetlands but not used much in gardens. This species can spread rapidly by seed. This plant is often confused with Hops, and the seed is actually used commercially at times as a substitute when flavoring beer.
