Cleveland Select Pear - Pyrus calleryana 'Cleveland Select'
The Cleveland Select Pear (Pyrus calleryana 'Cleveland Select') is a medium to large sized flowering tree for landscapes and gardens. This variety is narrower than 'Bradford', but has a round top like 'Bradford'. Most Pears are prone to wind and ice damage and fall apart about the time they look good. They are also extremely invasive and are becoming a serious environmental threat in the Southeast. This plant is a cultivated variety of Pyrus calleryana. Photos from the parent and other varieties of the species will aid in identification.
