California Scrub Oak - Quercus berberidifolia

The California Scrub Oak (Quercus berberidifolia) is a large naturalizing broadleaf evergreen shrub native to the coastal forests of Southern California. This is a great evergreen shrub for naturalized landscapes in coastal climates. It is named for the foliage that resembles the Evergreen Barberry. This plant can look a little rough for a manicured garden or landscape. It likes to roam and needs room to sucker. The native species is most common in production.
