Texas Red Oak - Quercus buckleyi

The Texas Red Oak (Quercus buckleyi) is a large deciduous shade tree native to the Eastern United States. This is a nice spreading form of oak the is fast to a climbing or swinging size. It is also extremely drought tolerant and has a vivid red fall color. This tree is not suited for lumber production, as the quickly spreading habit often eliminates the well defined leader at a low height. The native species is most common in production.
