Scarlet Oak - Quercus coccinea

The Scarlet Oak (Quercus coccinea) is a large deciduous shade tree native to the Eastern United States. This is one of the best of the Red Oaks and the narrower habit makes it easier to use in landscapes. The species seems to be succumbing to sudden oak death throughout the Southeast. There are more cultivars of this species in production.
