The Shumard Oak (Quercus shumardii) is a large deciduous shade tree for landscapes, gardens, and naturalizing native to the Eastern United States. This tree has glossy deep green leaves even in the severest drought. It has a high splitting trunk making it ideal for parking lots and street plantings. It also has a great fall color. This plant has no negatives of note. The native species is most common in production.
