Formosum Rhododendron - Rhododendron formosum var. formosum
The Formosum Rhododendron (Rhododendron formosum var. formosum) is a medium sized to large broadleaf evergreen shrub for landscapes and gardens. This species has mid to late season blooms that emerge pink from a deep red bud. It also has smaller leaves than other large Rhododendron. It is always best to make sure Rhododendron are well watered going into hard freezes. The native species is most common in production.
