Yak Rhododendron - Rhododendron yakushimanum

The Yak Rhododendron (Rhododendron yakushimanum) is a small flowering broadleaf evergreen shrub for gardens and landscapes. This species is probably the smallest and cold hardiest of the large leaf varieties. It can be distinguished by the exfoliating skin on emergent leaves. It is always best to make sure Rhododendron are well watered going into hard freezes. The native species is most common in production.
