The Chaparral Currant (Ribes malvaceum) is a deciduous fruit producing shrub coveted for the berries, and native to the Western United States. This species has a vigorous suckering habit with heavy flower and fruit production. The species can be invasive outside of the native range and many states limit import. There are more cultivars of this species in production.
