Black Locust - Robinia pseudoacacia

The Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) is a large deciduous flowering shade tree found throughout the United States. This tree has a very gothic habit and is often the larges species in pastures because the rigid bark protects it. Younger growth and suckers are often thorny. Leaf miners often defoliate it in July. The native species is most common in production.
