American Elderberry - Sambucus canadensis

The American Elderberry (Sambucus canadensis) is a large shrub or small tree for landscapes, gardens, and naturalizing. This is the Elderberry that is native to most of North America. The berry is coveted for jam, pies, and wine but is rather nasty by itself. This species can be aggressive (not invasive as it is native), and needs room to roam. There are more cultivars of this species in production.
