Lace Leaf Black Elderberry - Sambucus nigra 'Lacinata'

The Lace Leaf Black Elderberry (Sambucus nigra 'Lacinata') is a large shrub or small tree for landscapes and gardens. This is a cutleaf version of the species with a ferny texture. The berry is coveted for jam, pies, and wine but is rather nasty by itself. This cultivar can revert to the species which is an exotic invasive and should not be planted where it can escape. This plant is a cultivated variety of Sambucus nigra, an exotic invasive species.
