Mexican Jumping Bean - Sebastiania bilocularis

The Mexican Jumping Bean (Sebastiania bilocularis) is a spreading shrub ideal for arid landscapes and gardens. This species is native to Arizona and has been used in other desert landscapes to create windbreaks and stop erosion. As for aesthetic value, it makes a good green blob, but has no showy features. This plant is also know as poison arrow plants and part of it are poisonous. Don't expect to find "beans" despite the name. Instead it creates a small round seed capsule. The native species is most common in production.
