Silverbush - Sophora tomentosa

The Silverbush (Sophora tomentosa) is a large flowering broadleaf evergreen shrub for arid landscapes and gardens. This species has impressive pendulous flowers for an arid climate plant. It also has a silvery leaf which gives it the name. This plant will defoliate in prolonged drought and the seeds are very poinsonous. This plant is listed by the USDA as native to Texas and Florida, more sources say it is imported from the Mediterranean. It most likely an invasive species and should probably be limited in use in tropical areas.
