Daphne Spirea - Spiraea japonica 'Alpina'

The Daphne Spirea (Spiraea japonica 'Alpina') is a small deciduous flowering shrub ideal for hedges, borders and commercial landscapes. This variety has persistent flowers and a naturally compact habit. Shearing of spent flowers will cause the plant to rebloom. Spent flowers that are allowed to go to seed can revert and become exotic invasive species in zones 6 and up. This is a cultivated variety of Spiraea japonica. The parent species is an exotic invasive species in much of the United States.
