Double Play® Artist Spirea - Spirea fritschiana 'Galen'
The Double Play® Artist Spirea (Spirea fritschiana 'Galen') is a medium sized flowering shrub for landscapes, gardens, and borders. This variety has persistent flowers and a naturally compact habit. Shearing of spent flowers will cause the plant to rebloom. Different from other Japanese Spirea, this plant has purple emergent growth for extra color. Spent flowers allowed to go to seed can revert and become exotic invasive species in zones 6 and up. This plant is a trademarked cultivated variety of Spirea japonica with a patent held by Proven Winners®. Photos from other members of the species will aid in identification.
