Athel Tamarix - Tamarix aphylla

The Athel Tamarix (Tamarix aphylla) is a large evergreen tree for arid landscapes and gardens. This species has giant pink plumes that extend off the end of branches looking like needles. This plant is very fire resistant. This plant gets severely damaged at 0 degrees but bounces back. This species has escaped to nature in the Southwest due to wildfires, but is not considered invasive by itself.
