The Mexican Bald Cypress (Taxodium mucronatum) is a large evergreen coniferous tree native to southern Texas and Mexico. This species is a common swamp tree that can grow in standing water and develop overly flared trunks and "knees" on the roots. It is also drought tolerant and great for urban usage. This plant will shed in winter in zones 8 and 9, but is usually evergreen zones 10 and up. The native species is most common in production.
