The Japanese Yew (Taxus cuspidata) is a large tree or shrub for landscapes or gardens most commonly used in breeding garden varieties. This is the parent species of most cultivated varieties in US production and a favorite in crossing for hybrid Yews. This is a very large long lived tree and the native species is not really suited to be maintained to smaller sizes. There are numerous cultivars of this species in production.
