The Taunton's Hybrid Yew (Taxus X media 'Tauntonii') is a medium to large sized evergreen for landscapes and gardens. This variety is ideal for hedging, and works well with hand pruning or shearing. Hand pruning will keep a more natural appearance, and extend the life of the plant. Hybrid yews typically need well drained soil, are sensitive to overwatering and sun scald. Hybrid yews are typcally crossed between Taxus baccata and Taxus cuspidata varieties. Variations can be subtle, and photos of other Hybrid Yews may help in identification.
