Japanese Ternstroemia - Ternstroemia gymnanthera
The Japanese Ternstroemia (Ternstroemia gymnanthera) is a medium sized to large broadleaf evergreen shrub for landscapes and gardens. This species has new foliage that emerges red and turns burgundy to purple by fall with a red seed pod. This plant is prone to fungus that is not lethal but is pervasive. There are more cultivars of this species in production.
