Western Red Cedar - Thuja plicata

The Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata) is a pyramidal conifer for use in landscapes, gardens and naturalizing that is native to the Western United States. This species has a nice open habit and a solid single leader not common in Thuja. It is a great alternative to Junipers and Hemlocks that is more bug and disease resistant. This species can be prone to bagworms and damage from snow and ice. There are several cultivars of this plant in production, but the native species as about as solid a performer as you can find.
