American Elm - Ulmus americana

The American Elm (Ulmus americana) is a large upright arching shade tree that was once the most popular street tree in the United States. This tree has great yellow fall color and an arching habit that works well in tight urban spaces. The species is susceptible to the Dutch elm disease. While the native species is becoming harder to find, it has been hybridized numerous times to create disease resistant varieties.
