Arizona Rosewood - Vauquelinia californica

The Arizona Rosewood (Vauquelinia californica) is a broadleaf evergreen shrub or small tree ideal for landscapes and garden. If not limbed up this plant will stay full to the ground like a shrub, but it can also be trained into a tree. The flowers emerge white, but as the petals fall the bracts are red and look like flowers while the seed capsules form. This plant doesn't really have any negatives, but it is often sheared into a hedge which shortens the life. There are more cultivars of this species in production.
