Chinese Jujube Date - Ziziphus jujuba

The Chinese Jujube Date (Ziziphus jujuba) is a small ornamental fruit producing tree for landscapes and gardens. The flower is nice on this tree, but often hidden by the leaves. It is most noted for producing the dates of culinary use. Dropping fruits will stain hard surfaces such as sidewalks or patios so plant in an open space. This plant also is very thorny. The native species is most common in production.
